WTH? Music & Film Festival made a powerful return to its roots in Newark, NJ—delivering two unforgettable days of music, film, and creative energy.

Day 1, “Community Day,” brought the city together at the Temple of Hip-Hop with live performances from rising artists including TheART1$T, London Hill, Sura Ali, and more talented performers. The introduction of the WTH? Media Playground gave media outlets, creators, and festival talent a space to connect, collaborate, and create fresh content—offering more exposure and opportunity for everyone involved. Hosted by Jiggy Jones, with sounds by Nadus, Silva Soundz and Billy Gene, the day was a celebration of raw talent, community, and culture.

Day 2, “The Premiere,” took over Cityplex 12 Newark with the screening of What The Hell? Again?!”the first full-length independent feature film produced by WTH? Studios — debuting to a packed theater.

The night also spotlighted groundbreaking short films by independent filmmakers across the United States — followed by a live filmmakers panel hosted by Jiggy Jones, featuring Pierre Coleman, June Mugo, Brandon Tyler, and Damon St. Cloud.

Bringing WTH? Music & Film Festival back home to Newark meant everything.

This wasn’t just an event — it was a full-circle moment. It was about giving back to the city that raised us, creating real opportunities for artists and filmmakers, and showing that world-class creativity lives right here.

Event Recap

What The Hell?! began as an innovative short film that brought together local talent and musicians from the tri-state area, showcasing their creativity and energy. In January 2024, the film premiered to an audience of over 200 enthusiastic attendees in Newark, NJ.

The premiere was more than just a screening—it was a magical night of celebration, diversity, and creative expression. Alongside the main event, the evening featured a curated lineup of music videos and short films from emerging creators within our community. This vibrant mix of talent and storytelling brought the audience together, sparking conversations and connections that extended beyond the event.

Inspired by the success and energy of the premiere, we expanded our vision to create the WTH Music & Film Festival, a platform dedicated to amplifying emerging voices in music and film while staying true to our Newark roots. This milestone event not only highlighted the incredible talent within our community but also set the stage for a bigger and bolder celebration of creativity to come.
